Alte Biosciences identifies and develops drug candidates as proprietary products that address unmet medical needs. Our strategy is to minimize risk and maximize the potential for a successful product by repurposing existing drugs.

Drug repurposing is a well recognized strategy that significantly reduces the cost and risk of drug development and shortens the time to market. Alte Biosciences has selected its candidate drug products using the following criteria: 

• Ease of regulatory filing

• Recognized medical need

• Projected market value

• Opportunity to differentiate from similar commercially available products

• Opportunity to protect market exclusivity

Each development candidate is based on an approved product where a large clinical safety data base can be referenced, and for which there is opportunity for patent protection by creating a new combination product by altering the pharmacokinetic profile, or by developing a novel dosage form. 

The pipeline consists primarily of small molecules that can be dosed orally. Specially designed dosage forms are developed to deliver highly predictable and controllable release rates to allow optimum delivery of drugs while minimizing side effects.
